Church of St Lawrence the Martyr, Godmersham

According to a survey carried out by Tim Tatton-Brown, The original Anglo-Saxon church at Godmersham, which is mentioned in Domesday Book, lies under the nave and western part of the chancel of the present church.

The interesting apsidal structure on the north side of the church appears to be of early twelfth century date.

The church contains work of a number of periods and is certainly worth a visit.
